Your profile is where you control how JAMS Incident Management reaches you: the phone number it dials and texts, and whether you've consented to SMS. Everyone has one β you don't need to be an admin.
Where to find it
Open Settings. It's available to every user, Member and Admin alike. No one else edits your contact details for you β this page is yours.
Your phone number
The Phone Number field is what JAMS Incident Management uses for both call and SMS notifications. Get it right and in the correct format, or those channels silently won't reach you.
Enter it in E.164 format: a +, your country code, then the rest of the number β no spaces, dashes, or parentheses.
| Example | Valid? |
|---|---|
+12025550123 (US) | β |
+447700900123 (UK) | β |
(202) 555-0123 | β no +, has formatting |
2025550123 | β no +, no country code |
1-202-555-0123 | β has dashes |
Why E.164 matters: the providers JAMS Incident Management uses to place calls and send texts require the full international format. A number without the
+and country code, or with stray punctuation, gets rejected at the provider β so the alert shows as Failed and never rings or buzzes your phone.
Update the number, then click Save Settings.
SMS consent (opt-in)
JAMS Incident Management will not text you until you opt in. Until then, any SMS the system would send you is held back β your other channels (call, push, email) for the same alert still come through, but the text won't.
To turn SMS on:
- Open Settings.
- Make sure your phone number is filled in and correct (see above).
- Under SMS Notification Preferences, check I consent to receive SMS notifications.
- Click Save Settings.
The card shows your current status β "opted in" (with the date) or "opted out" β so you can confirm it took.
Why this matters: SMS consent is a US TCPA compliance requirement. Because it's legally your decision, only you can set it β an admin can't flip it on for you.
STOP / START / HELP commands
You can also manage SMS consent straight from your phone by replying to any JAMS Incident Management text:
| Reply | What it does |
|---|---|
| STOP | Opts you out. JAMS Incident Management stops sending you SMS immediately. |
| START | Opts you back in after a STOP. |
| HELP | Replies with customer-support contact info. |
A STOP applies everywhere β even across flows and tenants β so if your texts suddenly dried up, check whether you (or a previous owner of that number) ever replied STOP. Send START to turn them back on.
