Messaging a Team Group

Need to reach a whole team right now, without building a flow? Use Notify on a Team Group to send a one-off message by call, text, email or any of your other channels.

You'll need to be an Admin.

Sending a message

  1. Open Team Groups and click πŸ”” Notify on the group.
  2. Under Who, choose the whole group or Select individuals and tick the people you want.
  3. Under Send via, choose the channels. Call is selected to start with. Pick as many as you like.
  4. Type your Message, for example "Please join the bridge call for the payroll outage."
  5. Click Send Notification.

Everyone is contacted at the same time. There's no escalation and no waiting between people.

What people receive

Every message starts by saying who it's from, for example "Contoso message from Jane Smith: Please join the bridge call…", so nobody mistakes it for an automated alert. On a call, the message is read out.

On the Notification History page these messages show Manual: <group name> in the Flow column, so you can tell them apart from alerts.

Good to know

  • The usual rules still apply. Someone who hasn't opted in to SMS won't get a text, a channel your plan doesn't include won't be used, and a person with no phone number or app set up for a channel is skipped on that channel. The confirmation tells you how many people were reached and whether anyone was skipped.
  • Pauses don't block it. A maintenance pause or storm control is for automatic alerts. A message you send by hand always goes out.
  • Messages count toward your usage, like any other notification.
